Hopdevil Belgian Pub
Branimir street 29 / -1, Branimir, 10000, Zagreb
Hopdevil was named after a Belgian legend. Farmers believed storm winds, that sometimes destroyed crops at the end of August were the work of the Hopdevil. It is a tradition, that after every successful harvest, a party is held where an effigy of the Hopdevil is burned on a bonfire.
The Belgian owned bar, is located in the basement of Branimir shopping centre. The interior designer really went to town on this one, with a 40 metre waterfall along one wall, 10 tons of stone work, stripped from old Belgian buildings and imported to Croatia and a back room complete with its own forest of silver birch trees.
Hopedevil looks classy enough, but what really makes this place special, it the choice of beers, 101 different types of light, dark and fruit beers. Be warned however the Hopedevil gets extremely crowed at weekends, but its worth looking for a space to squeeze into.
The waiters are always happy to suggest a beer for you, as the choice really is mind boggling. Prices are however a little on the expensive side, but when you consider that the average % volume is 7 and goes as high as 12, you realise you don?t need to down 10 pints to become a gibbering wreck!
