As an expat living in Zagreb, I miss sitting in a nice warm bar, nursing a beer and watching the rugby or football of a weekend. Well, here?s where The Old Pharmacy comes in.
>
This is Zagreb?s favourite expat hangout, mainly because of the sport projected on a huge screen, sky sports (the only bar I know of that has it) and it?s also one of the only places you?ll find cider.
Thursdays are the real expats days, walk in and you are unlikely to hear a Croatian word spoken. The barmen are great guys and are more like the punters than waiters.
The bar is owned by 3 owners of pharmaceutical companies, hence the name. It?s just like an English pub, complete with bulldogs on the brass rails around the bar and an open fireplace. Drop in anytime and ask to watch whichever game or sport is on and they will usually oblige, on one of the 2 TV?s.
Snacks may also be ordered at the bar from the restaurant downstairs. What more could us Brits ask for.
